| | The Central Virginia Crime Prevention Association (CVCPA) is one of five chapters (or regions)that comprise the Virginia Crime Prevention Association. The four remaining chapters are Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, Southwest, and Mountain Empire.
The CVCPA is governed by bylaws adopted by the membership. Every two years, the CVCPA conducts general membership elections to appoint board members to the positions of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. Board members must be members of good stnading prior to their elections and must hold the term for two years. There is also a VCPA representative/member-at-large position included on the Board. The Central Virginia Crime Prevention Association's mission is to 1)provide for the exchange of ideas and/or problems relating to crime reduction through prevention and resistance; 2) to ensure regional uniformity of prevention activities through cooperation and coordination; and 3) increase the efficiency and effectiveness of crime prevention through training and participation in regional crime prevention activities. Membership in the CVCPA is open to individuals or agencies that support or seek involvement in crime prevention efforts. The interest of such persons must not be contrary to the purposes, goals, and objectives of the organization.
Membership is diversified and includes county, local, state, federal, and campus police. Our membership is also open to private and commercial security professionals, businesses, state and national crime prevention associations, and concerned citizens
